Creepy Creepy Night Dive.
Strong currents that pushed us under a giant sail boat when we thought we were in a totally different area. Saw around 5 or 6 juvenile horn sharks.

Amazing dive! Octopi, Electric Ray, Bat Ray sleeping, and an eel!!! I love Italian Gardens.
This should have been a non existent dive but alas was amazing. Nate and I kayaked over to IG when we arrived we were very warm so opted to take a dip. Sadly, I did not have my dry suit zipped up... a much cooler cool off than expected. Nate was nice and kayaked back and we did some switch ups on undergarments. Sometimes the extra effort is worth it!

Dive 118 - Hen Rock - Catalina Island, CA
Dive Time: 35 min
Depth: 50ft
Depth: 50ft

We went over to Catalina for the weekend and per suggestion from our super friendly dock neighbor Ken, we decided to moor in Hen Rock. The great advantage here, is you can dive right off your boat rather than kayak diving.
After a very short swim out from mooring B12 we dropped to 20 feet and began the dive. Hen Rock has some of the best shallow water landscapes we've seen in Catalina. Lots of fish, huge rocks and great kelp (without too much kelp). A very fun dive, I'm looking forward to a night dive here to see all of the seal lions out hunting!

Dive 117 - Lion's Head - Catalina Island, CA
Dive Time: 40 min
Depth: 35ft
Vis: 30ftBuddy: Jenni Wilson-Cooper
Another fun dive, just NW of Two Harbors. We kayaked over and dropped anchor. The water was quite clear vertically, more so than horizontally, but that is to be expected.
It was a bit of an odd dive. The kelp was so thick and shallow rather than swim through it we ended up just swimming along the side of a very distinct kelp line. To our left was the kelp to our right was off into the blue. Very cool looking, though we didn't see much life.

A great dive and a very fun dive site. Just NW of Blue Cavern, between BC and the USC Chamber. You can't anchor so we did a kelp tie off. Good fun!

Dive 115 - Blue Cavern - Catalina Island, CA
Dive Time: 10 min
Depth: 50ft

This was an exceptionally exciting dive, mostly for reasons other than the actual dive.
First off, we were beside ourselves as this was our first trip to Catalina Island on our new boat Dive Bar. It's a 2006 Maxum 2700 and it is amazing!
Secondly, we were quite happy to be alive, as the fog the day before was so thick we came within 50 feet of the island before seeing it, and even then it was hard to see. Keeping with tradition of the first time we do something really fun and new it's scary as hell.
Third, this is our first time kayak diving (heck, our first time kayaking) Catalina. Since we've always come over via ferry we have never had the chance to kayak.
